AREA GUIDE · LA JOLLA 92037
La Jolla's backyard hill — eight hundred feet of view, sun above the marine layer, and estate streets on the slopes.

THE AREA
Mount Soledad is the ridge that fills La Jolla's eastern skyline, climbing roughly 822 feet — the highest ground along this stretch of the San Diego coast. From the summit and upper slopes the views run 360 degrees: the Pacific on one side, the downtown San Diego skyline and Mexico to the south, and the Cuyamaca Mountains to the east. At the top sits the Mount Soledad National Veterans Memorial, its 29-foot cross and black granite plaques honoring veterans from the Revolutionary War onward.
Elevation is the hill's daily amenity. The summit and upper slopes often sit above the morning marine layer — hillside residents take their sunshine while the beaches below are still fog-covered. That micro-climate, and the long sightlines it buys, is the reason the slopes command some of the highest price-per-square-foot figures in 92037.
The hill's residential slopes are covered by several distinct La Jolla neighborhoods: La Jolla Heights on the northwest side toward UCSD, Muirlands on the western flank, La Jolla Mesa on the mid-level benches between the hill and the Village, La Jolla Alta along the eastern side, and Soledad South where the southern slopes drop toward Pacific Beach. Stock is dominated by single-family homes on larger lots than the coastal flats — from 1960s mid-century ranches to large custom contemporary estates with panoramic view decks.
WHAT TO KNOW
HOW THE CLOSINGS ARE COUNTED
Mount Soledad is an editorial area, not one of the tracked closing polygons. Every closing on the hill is attributed by our polygon map to the tracked neighborhoods below — none is double-counted, and no separate 'Mount Soledad' total is invented.
